Demonstrate the effects of a power cut and engage kids in an exploration using a magic torch.
Preparation
Assemble all necessary materials. Print out the house diagram on OHP film. Print out torch images on thick paper if available. Print out little icon clipart images on regular paper.
Let’s Do It
Attach OHP Film to White A4 Paper:
Use tape to attach the OHP film to the top of the white A4 paper. Flip them over.
Attach Black Paper:
Attach the black paper to the top of the white paper with tape.
Hidden Images:
Position the page with icon clipart images under the OHP film. Draw in some hidden objects.
Make Torches:
Cut out the torch/flashlight images.
Finished!
Explain that with the OHP on the white paper, it simulates lights being on. When flipped to the back on the black paper, it represents a blackout. Instruct students to use the torch cutouts to search for hidden objects on each other’s pictures.
